About

I am Richard, a Dutch guy in his thirties that loves to make photos of everything. I created this photoblog so I can share the nice scenery of my surroundings with the outer world. Besides taking photos I am a computer addict, so Photoshop is of course also a tool I use to make things that little bit prettier and creating a photoblog was not too hard either of course. First a little introduction of how I started my addiction of taking photos.

When I was about 18 or 20 years old I bought my first real camera. I got myself a second hand Minolta Maxxum 7000, the very first autofocus camera with motorised film transportation. I had a standard 35-70mm Minolta lens with it and shot some wonderfull pics with it. I still have it today, but it is gathering dust somewhere. Then when I was about 25 or 26 years old I upgraded my camera with a Dynax 404si. I was very happy with the Monilta products, so I stuck with them. Got me a new lens too back then, a Cosina zoom lens 100-300mm f4.5-6.7. Not the best zoomlens in the world, but for the amount of money I could afford back then there was nothing better. So there you have it, the start of my analog adventures in photoland.

After years of shooting photos I decided to get a digital camera in 2005 or so. I bought a Fuji Finepix S5000 and got loads of nice photos with it, despite the fact that the in-camera compression was horrible. And after using that for a few years I finally had money to expand my collection of cameras for once and for all. I went for a DSLR camera and since I had enough Minolta stuff laying around, my choice was more then obvious when I chose the Sony Alpha 200. I didn't want to spend extra money for the α300 or α350, which only had life view and a few extra options. And the α700 was way out of my range. I thought about it for a few hours, left work early and drove for over an hour to get the camera for the best price I could find.

And now I am writing this, about ten days after my first photos with the Sony and I made a second decision. I stopped my weblog and will use my time to create this photoblog. Only pictures I love most, that have a special meaning to me or may have entered a competition will be shown here. So don't expect all my holiday photos here, neither will there be photos that are made by others. This is my creativity that I want to share with people.

Feel free to leave comments on my photos, or feel free not to.

Enjoy!
